We are seeking to appoint a new Early Years teacher to join our growing team at this inclusive all-age special school. We are looking for an innovative Early Years teacher with experience in working with pupils with learning difficulties in a mainstream or specialist setting.

 

Hazel Oak supports a broad range of learning difficulties which include Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, social, emotional and mental health, speech, language and communication difficulties, plus more complex and medical needs. Communication, wellbeing, life skills and the functional use of core skills are central to our curriculum, which brings real life experience into learning.

 

The successful applicant will be required to deliver adapted Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our learners, with regular opportunities to develop your pedagogy through collaborative team working, creating inspired experiences and cultural capital for all learners.

 

Staff are actively involved in the school’s development and have access to regular training, peer and wellbeing support. We are seeking to appoint two fixed term, maternity cover teachers starting in September 2024. We have 2 maternity posts available, so the successful candidates will be placed according to their strengths and experience. Therefore, we welcome applicants from Primary or Secondary backgrounds, who can deliver high quality lessons across the curriculum with a sense of creativity and fun. We also welcome applications from across the spectrum of diversity, celebrating difference as one of our strengths. We pride ourselves on developing our staff into broader skill areas and future promotions and support wellbeing as a priority. We also like to learn from our staff as we develop together for the benefit of our pupils.

 

We would also consider a secondment, in agreement with the successful candidate(s) current school. This could be a perfect opportunity for someone wishing to develop their skills and expertise in teaching pupils with special educational needs with a view to becoming a SENDCo, working in a special school or just enhancing their pedagogy.

The successful candidate will work within our Secondary phase, where pupils have class teachers who deliver Core and Foundation subjects with some support from a small number of specialist subject teachers.
